The « Battle Flail - Thiết-Lĩnh » ( 鐵 領 ) is a Particular Arm, belonging to the category of Pole-Arms, very dreadful, originating from the « Flail Néo », a kind of agrarian tool used for beating the paddy (rice not yet hulled). This « Thiết-Lĩnh » is a kind of Pole-Arm with Two Segments, specific of Vietnameses, comprisant a long segment and a short segment, linked up between them by a short cord or by a short metal small chain.

Chineses use also this kind of Pole-Arm with Two Segments - one long and one short - and call this by « Trường Sao-Tử - 長 梢 子», sometimes « Mẫu-Tử-Côn 母 子 棍 », but that is the Pole-Arm with Three Segments of same length, called «Tam-Tiết-Côn - 三 節 棍», which is specific to them.

As for Japaneses, inhabitants of Okinawa Island, they use a kind of weapon with Two Segments (Lưỡng-Tiết-Côn - 兩 節 棍) holding Two Short Sticks of same length and linked up between them by a short cord or by a short metal small chain - called « Nunchaku » (Nông-Gia Cụ - 農 耞 具) - originating also from agrarian tool « Liên-Gia 連 枷 » i.e. the Flail used for beating the paddy (rice not yet hulled). However, that's a kind of weapon whom the wielding doesn't own to the one of War Pole and Battle Staff.

the Battle Flail «Thiết-Lĩnh» Codified Sequence

The celebrious foundamental Codified Sequence of « Thiết-Lĩnh » from School System of Grand-Master Phạm-Tường is a Codified Sequence including a Coded Poem having 10 Lines of Verse (40 characters).

It's a rare and precious Codified Sequence of Battlefield Martial Arts teaching the using method of « Thiết-Lĩnh » - completly different from the one of Popular Martial Arts - still handed down to the posterity.
